Los Padres ForestWatch Raptor Experience

Join us for our first ever Raptor Experience with Denise Disharoon, of Talon and Flight, a licensed falconer who will take us on an educational journey ‘to experience the timeless bond between human and raptor — a journey into the ancient art of falconry, symbolism, and the wild beauty of birds of prey.’

Our location, a terraced stone amphitheater at Topa Institute, will enhance the unique environment of this ancient tradition. Topa Institute is located on a hill overlooking the entire Upper Ojai Valley and is known for its peaceful and serene energy and breathtaking views. A very special place for a very special event.

The two sessions (morning and afternoon) will each have the opportunity for an intimate gathering to learn all about raptors, see them up close, and watch Denise work with them. Four lucky raffle winners in each session will get the chance to put on a glove and ‘fly’ the bird, a truly wondrous and impactful experience. The two sessions will meet in the middle for lunch and a short program on the latest from ForestWatch.

Tickets include admission to either morning or afternoon session and lunch. Raffle tickets sold separately. A link to purchase raffle tickets in advance will be sent to all those registered. Sessions are limited in capacity and we expect to sell out – so get your tickets early.

All ages welcome and no experience needed but for this event you must be over 12 to ‘fly’ the bird if you are a raffle winner. Benched seating in amphitheater or bring your own camp chair.

This is an amazing, unique experience and we would love to share it with our ForestWatch Community. All funds raised will support our critical work protecting our treasured wild places and its inhabitants.
