Reggae icon Mykal Rose takes the stage at SOhO Music Club on August 30 for a rare and powerful performance. Best known as the original voice of Black Uhuru during their groundbreaking rise in the late ’70s and ’80s, Rose is the force behind timeless anthems like “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” “Shine Eye Gal,” and “General Penitentiary.” His distinctive vocal style helped shape the globally influential “Waterhouse” sound, and in 1984, Rose and Black Uhuru became the first-ever recipients of the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album with Anthem. Now returning to the spotlight as a solo artist, Rose continues to electrify audiences with his militant, roots-drenched sound.
