In recognition of AIDS Awareness Month, Quilt Project Gold Coast invites the community to join the Santa Barbara AIDS Quilt Memorial Procession.

Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 4:00 PM.

Santa Barbara County Courthouse (corner of Anacapa and Anapamu Streets) and conclude with a short program at Santa Barbara City Hall, 735 Anacapa Street.

This heartfelt event commemorates the lives of Santa Barbara residents and others lost to AIDS, including Mitch Kincannon (1954–1994). Participants will carry sections of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, honoring the enduring spirit, creativity, and love of those who have passed.

  • Starting Point: Santa Barbara County Courthouse, corner of Anacapa & Anapamu Streets
  • Procession Route: Down State Street from the Courthouse to City Hall
  • Closing Program: Brief remembrance at Santa Barbara City Hall

The Quilt Project Gold Coast encourages individuals, families, and organizations to participate. “The more people who show up, the more quilts we can carry and display,” said a spokesperson for the group. “Together, we honor those we’ve lost and renew our commitment to compassion, remembrance, and community action.”

The AIDS Memorial Quilt, one of the world’s largest community art projects, continues to serve as a powerful symbol of love, loss, and resilience. This procession brings a local chapter of that global legacy to life on the streets of Santa Barbara.
