SB UNA Annual Peace Prize, Unite to Light

Santa Barbara United Nations Association has been honoring local people/organizations that have provided a global impact for peace with our annual Peace Prize, beginning in 2017. This year we are excited to commemorate the non-profit Unite to Light and their CEO Megan Birney Rudert.  We will be celebrating Megan and Unite to Light on Sunday, September 21sts at 3:30 at Pascucci on State Street. The Unite to Light mission ~

“ Fellow humans worldwide are struggling in darkness after sunset, being poisoned at night by kerosene fumes, spending meager resources on fuel instead of on better nutrition, or healthcare.

Together we can help. We can lift lives out of darkness in so many ways, with just a little light. We can bring hope and health to people who have so little.

Suddenly children are able to continue their studies after their chores are done. Parents are able to work on their own reading skills or a handicraft after their children have gone to sleep. Mamas don’t live in fear that their babies will be born at night, their first breath filled with smoke. Families can afford a bit more protein, school uniforms, or medicine. The skies are less filled with the soot of greenhouse gasses emitted from dirty fuel lamps.

With every life we change with a Luke Light or Chandler Charger Power Bank, we add human power and potential to the world.”
