Santa Barbara City College has been the home of Monday Madness since its formation by instructor Dr. Charles Wood in 1988.
The orchestra celebrates the instrumental jazz music of the greats like Count Basie, Thad Jones, Stan Kenton, Duke Ellington, Maynard Ferguson & Buddy Rich, as well as modern groups like The WDR Big Band, The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, The Airmen of Note, and The Alan Baylock Jazz Orchestra.
The band is currently led by saxophonist Andrew Martinez. Band members consist of local professionals and music educators.
