EE Makerspace - Art From Scrap
Create a sturdy and stylish tote bag made of reclaimed fabric and materials in this intermediate-level workshop with guest artist Emily Adams.
If you’re new to sewing or want a quick refresher, arrive at 5:00 pm for an optional 30-minute introductory session. You’ll learn the basics of using a sewing machine so you’re ready to start the main project with confidence when the Tote Bag workshop begins at 5:30 pm.
Emily Adams was taught to sew by her mother on her great-grandmother’s foot-powered Singer and began sewing her own clothes in 2007. At the time, she was a busy freelance writer and quickly discovered the meditative and calming influence of a regular sewing practice. Her work is focused on using natural fibers and building clothes that last, and her true desire is to nurture a community of sewists who support and encourage one another’s creative and practical needs. Emily teaches workshops and classes at Santa Barbara City College, the EE Makerspace above Art From Scrap, and The Crafter’s Library.
Don’t miss this chance to learn sewing from a true expert! Open to adults and teens ages 13 and up.
Cost: $40 General | $35 Students & Educators
