The Two Founding Members are Best Known for Their Unforgettable Score to the Emmy Award-Winning Animated Series Over the Garden Wall, as Well as Contributions to Major Motion Films Including Burlesque and The Year Engagement

Critically-acclaimed composers and multi-instrumentalists Joshua Kaufman and Justin Rubenstein – the founding members of The Blasting Company – have announced that they will bring their singular blend of American folk traditions, Eastern European influences, and orchestral storytelling to the Ojai Deer Lodge on April 16 at 6:00 PM.

Best known for their unforgettable score to the Emmy Award-winning animated series Over the Garden Wall, a cult favorite that has amassed more than 220 million streams globally as well as their contributions to such major motion films as Burlesque and The Year Engagement, Kaufman and Rubenstein have built a reputation as innovative composers whose work transcends conventional musical boundaries.

From their early days busking on the streets of Europe and the United States to composing for award-winning productions, Kaufman and Rubenstein’s journey embodies a dedication to craft and a passion for musical exploration.

With a growing global audience and more than 400,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, their work continues to captivate both longtime fans and new listeners alike.

As they look ahead, the duo remains committed to pushing the boundaries of their sound, blending tradition with innovation in ways that feel both timeless and entirely their own.

Whether on stage, in the studio, or scoring the stories that resonate across generations, Kaufman and Rubenstein are not just creating music—they are building a lasting musical legacy, one note and one show at a time.

Recently, the two have collaborated on a variety of projects including the New York Times-acclaimed podcast The Kids of Rutherford County and a three-album soundtrack for the tabletop role-playing campaign The Crooked Moon, featuring renowned artists Haley Reinhart, Jemaine Clement, and the legendary composer Van Dyke Parks.

Now, taking their work to select venues this spring, fans will have the rare opportunity to experience their distinctive sound live.

These immersive musical performances will feature selections inspired by their celebrated work, alongside new material that highlights their continued evolution as composers and artists.

Each show promises a richly atmospheric experience, reflecting the same cinematic depth and storytelling that has defined their career.
