The UCSB Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Andy Radford, presents its Winter Concert Ephiphany Symphony on Monday, March 9, 2026, 7:30 pm at the Trinity Episcopal Church
Experience three masterpieces of the Orchestral Repertoire. The big piece in this concert is the Second Symphony of Johannes Brahms. It is in this composition that Brahms reached his symphonic maturity. The success of the piece encouraged Brahms to greater heights, and its incredible beauty inspires listeners to this day. The concert will start with the Third Brandenburg Concerto by Johann Sebastian Bach. This energetic piece for strings is a high point of the Baroque Period. Many of our string musicians will be featured soloists. Following the Bach, a 20th Century frolic in the form of Leonard Bernstein’s Overture to Candide, will engage and entice. This Overture to the comic operetta twinkles, and then the main theme sings. The real star of the concert is the orchestra itself, and the beauty that they bring to this music.
