Whether you’re a lifelong Buddhist, want to reconnect with your Buddhist roots, or are curious about Buddhism come join the Buddhist Church of Santa Barbara (BCSB)’s monthly service and Lunch and Learn Series: Buddhism and Pop Culture.

Join us at our picturesque temple on Santa Barbara’s Eastside on Saturday November 8th at 10 am for a Buddhist service that includes moments to quiet the mind, chanting of traditional texts called sutras, and hearing a dharma message from guest speaker, Rev. Stacy Reardon. Stacy-sensei is an ordained priest in the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha organization and has served at the San Fernando Valley Hongwanji Buddhist Temple as a minister’s assistant for several years

At 11am, we’ll explore the Buddhist lessons from the genre of Japanese music known as “city pop,” and will answer any questions you have about Buddhism. A complimentary lunch with other refreshments will be served.

BCSB is part of the 800-year-old Jodo Shinshu tradition of Japanese Pure Land Buddhism and has been rooted in Santa Barbara since 1913.
