William (Bill) Patrick Huddy
Bill Huddy, passed away on November 29, 2024, in Castle Rock, Colorado at the age of 71. Loving fiancée of Linda Hufferd, devoted father of Caitlin Huddy and Mary Huddy, beloved son of the late Bill and Jean Huddy, dear brother of Bryan Huddy (Julie Huddy), uncle of Brianna Sanchez (Andru Sanchez) and great uncle of Aliyana and Kyah Huddy.
Bill was an accomplished academic. He earned his BA at California State University, Chico, his Master of Arts of Instructional Communication at University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and his Doctor of Philosophy, Communication Studies at University of Denver.
Bill was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. Bill loved the news and broadcasting, and he became a Broadcast Specialist with the California National Guard after graduating from college. He advanced his news career over 20 years, serving as a News Photographer and News Reporter in California, before continuing his career as a News Anchor in El Paso, Milwaukee, Fort Myers, and Colorado Springs.
Bill pursued Investment Advising (Series-7 Investment Advisor) and carried his love of the stock market throughout his life.
Bill’s broadcasting and advising experiences demonstrated his skills and love of educating others which guided him to a 25-year career in academia. Bill was the Director of Excellence in Oral Communication at UCCS before becoming a Lecturer at Emerson College in Boston and then a Senior Lecturer at Metropolitan State University of Denver. His other notable accomplishments included being a published author and on the Faculty of The Junior State of America Foundation in Washington, DC. His joy of teaching was felt by every one of his students. Each lecture showed his passion for learning and the gift of education.
Bill was a man of many interests. He was an expert parachutist who appeared on the cover of Parachutist Magazine. He was an avid bicyclist who rode many bike races including The Elephant Rock and he just completed the Tour of the Moon in Palisade, Colorado with his dear friend Steve. Bill loved politics, having volunteered on multiple campaigns, served as Party Treasurer and ran as a Candidate for County Commission. Bill was on his HOA board and regularly volunteered at the recycling center.
Bill met his fiancée Linda in 2012 and through the years he shared with her his boundless love of creating connections and living fully. Together they biked, hiked, dined, and traveled. Bill especially loved Italy and went there often with Linda. While there with friends and family, they shared their love for art, connecting with people and exploring enchanting ancient towns from Venice to Matera. They also enjoyed traveling closer to home to Niwot and Palisade.
The loves of his life were his beautiful daughters, Caitlin and Mary. He gave them his love of music, his humor, his compassion, and knowledge that he would always be there for them. He would always make sure they had their vitamins, knew the weather forecast, any traffic concerns, and what was going on politically. He was a devoted father who was a role model and rock for his girls.
A memorial mass for William will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2746 Fifth St, Castle Rock, Colorado 80104.
A reception will follow the mass from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Pegasus, 313 Jerry St, Castle Rock, CO 80104.
