Larry ‘Hobby’ Hobbisiefken
To those who knew our dad, he was Larry “Hobby” Hobbisiefken — fondly known to many as Larry the Legend — whose humor, warmth, and famous “long goodbyes” were as much a part of him as his love of golf. He passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, at the age of 90.
A proud Army veteran and tank commander at Fort Lewis, and ever the salesman at heart, Larry lived life fully and touched countless lives. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who remained fiercely independent until the end, always ready with a smile, a story, and a reason to laugh.
Larry is survived by his daughters, Susie Subject and Judy Taggart; his son, John Casey (Kimla); his granddaughter, Brianna; and three great-granddaughters, along with a cherished circle of friends and golf buddies who will miss him on and off the course. In 2008, he was predeceased by his former wife, Fran “Franial” Hobby, with whom he shared many years and a lasting friendship.
Larry’s family and close friends will gather privately on August 17 to celebrate his life, and his ashes will be scattered the following day, August 18, a date that holds special meaning as it marks the anniversary of Fran’s passing.
He is deeply loved and will be forever missed. May he rest in peace, with a putter in one hand and a Dr. Pepper in the other… and the sun forever warm on his back.
