Frances Armen Hanna
Frances Armen Hanna, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Santa Barbara on December 24th, 2025. She was born on January 31, 1944 in San Francisco, the daughter of Stella and Deran Jeskalian. Frances attended Polytechnic High School and City College of San Francisco before completing a bachelor’s degree in education at San Jose State in 1965. She later taught elementary school until she met the love of her life, Charles “Vernon” Hanna, at a Navy social on Treasure Island in 1973.
She moved to Rancho Palos Verdes and lived there with her new husband until he was relocated by IBM to Santa Barbara in 1976. While living in Santa Barbara she raised two sons, Stephen and Matthew Hanna, and developed an interest in real estate and managing property. She was also active on the social scene, having maintained membership at various times in the Newcomers Club, Postcomers Club, Graduates Club, and Santa Barbara Women’s Club. Some of her interests including reading mystery novels, learning about the lives of old Hollywood stars, watching dramas on TV, going on cruises, and trying new foods.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents and her older sister, Barbara. She is survived by her husband, her two sons, and her grandchildren, Leon and Charles Hanna.
