For visitors to the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, docents are the institution's welcoming face and informed voice. SBMA's 68 active docents present gallery talks about permanent collections and special exhibitions, and lead thousands of children through the galleries for lively and interactive lessons. But the volunteer life as an SBMA docent is not all work and no play. The group goes on regular field trips, like a recent one to some of Los Angeles' cultural hot spots.

For more information on filling one of these important positions, attend a Recruitment Reception and Tea on Tuesday, May 19 at the Museum. For additional information or to make a reservation for the Recruitment Reception, contact Erin Zetter, Coordinator of Docent Programs by phone or by emailing
