Phyllis Virginia Marshall

1924 - 2011, Santa Barbara

In Remembrance to PHYLLIS VIRGINIA MARSHALL loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. April 15, 1924 to November 27, 2011

Phyllis Marshall passed away peacefully in her sleep during the early hours of Sunday Nov, 27th. She was blessed to have Robert, her loving husband of 62 years, there to care for her until the moment that she moved on.

Phyllis was born in Sheboygan Wisconsin to Norman Miller and Viola (Ertl) Miller on April 15, 1924. Phyllis married Robert (Bob) Marshall in 1949 and moved to Milwaukee, WI. There the couple built a house themselves and formed a family with children, Jim, Jeff, Judi, and Jon.

In 1968 the family moved to Santa Barbara, CA where Phyllis was to blossom from loving homemaker to a successful entrepreneur. Phyllis formed Nature's Own, a premier Rock, Shell and Fossil store, in 1974. The store grew from it's humble beginning in De La Guerra plaza to stores in Palm Springs, Solvang, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills. As well as a larger stores in Santa Barbara on State Street and Stearns Wharf. Often remembered as "Mother Nature," Phyllis was well known for her ever present light hearted good natured humor and her readiness to lend a helping hand. In 1992 Phyllis became a Grandmother so she moved away from working the business and more toward the nurturing support that she was so good at and was to do for the remainder of her life.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her siblings, Ken Miller of Santa Barbara. Dorothy Theobald and Eugene Miller, both of Sheboygan Wisconsin.

Survived by: Husband Robert Marshall(89). Son's James Marshall (60), Jeffery Marshall, John Marshall (50) and daughter Judith Bruskin (57). Son in law Neil Bruskin (58) and Grandchildren, Natasha Bruskin (19) and Noah Bruskin (16). All of Santa Barbara, CA
