BORN BEHIND BARS:

Further proving that storks can visit anybody, anytime,
anywhere, an inmate at Santa Barbara County Jail unexpectedly gave
birth in her cell without even knowing she was pregnant.
Thirty-five-year-old Leticia Cisneros – who was booked into prison
on June 1 on suspicion of elder abuse – birthed a healthy six-pound
boy while using the toilet last Thursday evening. According to
prison authorities, Cisneros made no mention of pregnancy in her
medical screening earlier this month, apparently thinking little of
her recent weight gain and excessive cramping. Responding sheriffs
found the newborn in the hands of fellow inmate Lorna Hernandez –
who had rescued him from the toilet – with the placenta still
attached and his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. As of
press time, the baby was in good condition at Cottage Hospital.
