Bloc Party Cancels Tour

Drummer Matt Tong’s Lung Collapses

Last Thursday night in Atlanta, Bloc
Party
‘s drummer Matt Tong rocked so hard that his lung
collapsed. After doctors checked him out over the weekend, they
gave their recommendation, and it ain’t too good for fans of Bloc
Party. The prognonsis: cancel the tour so Tong can heal. However,
the headlining band on the tour Panic at the
Disco!
is keeping the dates and have hired Plain White Ts as an
opener until November 26 and Cobra Starship as the opener to round
out the tour.

Bloc Party’s frontman Kele Okerele said sorry in this statement:
“We would like to apologize to all of our fans here who won’t be
able to see us on this tour. We were looking forward to playing in
a number of American cities that we’ve never been to before,
however, Matt’s health is our number one priority right now.”
Refunds are being given, so turn in your tickets ASAP.

The affected cities and concert dates are Toronto (11/16),
Rochester (11/17), Lowell, MA (11/18), Philadelphia (11/19),
Detroit (11/21), Chicago (11/22), Minneapolis (11/24), St. Charles,
MO (11/25), Council Bluffs, IA (11/26), Denver (11/28), Salt Lake
City (11/29), Portland (12/1), Vancouver (12/2), Seattle (12/3),
San Jose (12/5), Long Beach (12/6), Glendale, AZ (12/7), Las Vegas
(12/8), and San Diego (12/9).
