S.B.’s Spencer the Gardener Drops Holiday Hit

We all know the zillions of Christmas songs that play
incessantly throughout the holiday season, but have you ever asked
yourself why there’s not any Thanksgiving songs? Apparently,
Spencer Barnitz, the frontman of Santa Barbara’s
Spencer
the Gardener
, asked himself that a few weeks ago, and decided
to fix the problem and pen a tune called “The Gobble Song,” or “The
Gobbler,” depending on who you talk to. He took the song up to Cold
Spring Tavern a couple weeks back, busted it out, and people
started doing the turkey dance. When filmmaker, and occasional
Indy contributor Russ
Spencer
(uh, no relation) saw the fiasco, he knew that it had
to become a music video. Fast forward to the Tuesday Farmers Market
last week, and voila! A full-length music video of Spencer
the Gardener
doing “The Gobble Song,” complete with friendly
State Street faces engaging in the turkey dance. So here it is,
“The Gobble Song” music video, courtesy of Bison FIlms and

Whaddya think about that? Let us know on our comment form below.
Do you think that this might become a song we bust out every
Thanksgiving? We think that it’s got a good shot at being the next
“Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer,” so pass it far and wide and
see what the rest of America thinks.
