With a jury “hopelessly deadlocked” after nearly a week of deliberation, Judge Clifford Anderson declared a mistrial in the vehicular manslaughter trial of Ernesto Botello. Jury members said the group was split right down the middle on whether or not Botello was negligent when he struck 12-year-old Jake Boysel. Prosecutor Ali Neufer said it was too early to tell whether or not Botello would be retried.
