Deryk Schlessinger, the 21-year-old soldier son of radio personality and Santa Barbara News-Press columnist Dr. Laura Schlessinger, has became the subject of scrutiny after the Pentagon launched an investigation into questionable cartoons depicting rape, murder, and torture, along with obscenity-laden blog entries allegedly found on his MySpace page. The page has since been taken down. The younger Schlessinger is currently serving in Afghanistan. The elder Schlessinger is on hiatus from writing her News-Press column. The paper’s management did not return emails inquiring as to whether the incidents were related.
