On 5/30 a 45-day appeal period began for the Winchester Gun Club after Los Padres National Forest officials granted the West Camino Cielo Road shooting range a new 20-year special use permit, the terms of which require the gun club to clean up and cease all target practice at its long boar range in the San Jose Creek basin. If and when the club succeeds in its appeal, club management must begin to bring the facility in line with theEPA’s mandated Environmental Stewardship Plan.
