Former Public Defender Sues County

Former county public defender James Egar filed suit against the county and County Executive Officer Mike Brown on 5/18. In the suit, Egar alleged that Brown threatened him, screamed and swore at him, and spit in his face. The suit lists 13 complaints, including assault, battery, negligent hiring, training, retention, and supervision, as well as multiple violations of the California Fair Employment and Housing Act by Brown. The lawsuit seeks unspecified punitive and compensatory damages.
