Memorial Day DUI Numbers Drop

Memorial Day weekend was “fairly uneventful” for Santa Barbara police, according to Lt. Paul McCaffrey. The department made 13 DUI arrests over the weekend, and only one case involved an accident. Twenty-three people were arrested for public intoxication. The Santa Barbara-area California Highway Patrol made 11 DUI arrests over the weekend – down five from 2006. CHP also gave out 221 speeding citations during its maximum enforcement period.
