On 6/18 the City of Goleta opposed rate hikes proposed by the Goleta Water District, claiming that a customer vote is needed. The water district has notified customers that the basic monthly service charge for residents with low-flow meters will stay the same or decrease, while the charge for all others will increase anywhere between 50 and 580 percent, effective this July. The water district will hold a public hearing on 7/9 at the Goleta Union School District.
