City Council Denies Buellton Sphere of Influence Study

The Buellton City Council punted a vote on a decisive sphere of influence study in order to allow councilmembers “more time to digest the issues.” After more than three hours of debate, councilmembers declined to approve further investigation of a plan that could enlarge Buellton’s footprint from 1,025 acres to more than 3,100 acres. If the council approves the study when it reconvenes on 7/12, the proposal would require specific land use scenarios, an Environmental Impact Review, and Local Agency Formation Commission approval to become a reality.
