State Approves Funding for Farm Worker Housing

A bill that aims to provide housing for migrant farm workers passed unanimously in the State Assembly. AB 762 authorizes the creation of a pilot program that will provide grant money to build or improve housing near services and agricultural sites for migrant farm workers in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Monterey counties. Assemblymember Pedro Nava, the bill’s author, said of its passage, “I believe this change can improve housing for farm workers.”
