City’s Public Works Chief Announces Retirement

Santa Barbara City Public Works chief Tony Nisich announced he was resigning after nearly six years. Nisich and the entire Public Works Department have been in hot water with several city councilmembers for many years. Among the controversies laid at Public Works’ feet were issues surrounding the Granada Garage. Likewise, Nisich alienated some councilmembers with his slow response to trash and recycling squabbles between rival companies MarBorg and BFI. Nisich will step down in October.
