County Sues Civil Service Commission over Fired Social Worker

The County of Santa Barbara is suing the Civil Service Commission over its ruling in the case of fired Lompoc social worker Liann Noble, who entered the Bridgehouse homeless shelter using false identification to collect information about child homelessness. The Department of Social Services then terminated Noble for misconduct-disciplinary action the commission later ruled “was excessive.” Noble was then given a 60-day suspension without pay. Now the county is charging that the commission failed to provide adequate evidence and is demanding to know why Noble’s punishment was modified.
