City Council to Draft Affordable Housing Ordinance

Housing affordable to middle- and upper-middle income workers is the intended result of the Santa Barbara City Council’s unanimous decision to draft an ordinance requiring all new market-rate condominium projects – even those creating as few as two units – to pay a fee contributing to below-market housing. Currently, only projects of 10 units or more are required to include below-market units or pay an in-lieu fee.
