State Budget Finally Passes

After exceeding the state’s budget deadline by 51 days, a two-thirds state Senate majority finally passed the $145-billion budget that Republicans had so roundly trashed. State Senator Abel Maldonado (R-Santa Maria)-the first Republican to endorse the budget-was excoriated by Republican leaders including state Senator Tom McClintock, who represents much of Santa Barbara County.
