The Naval Air System Command awarded an $8-million contract to Alliant Techsystems (ATK) to supply rocket motors for foreign military sales. On 8/27, the Minnesota-based company-which has plants in Goleta and Santa Barbara-announced that the rockets will aid South Korea, Kuwait, Chile, Germany, and Portugal. Earlier in August, ATK won a $1.8-billion NASA contract to develop the next-generation human space flight vehicle, dubbed Ares 1.
