School Board Tentatively Reinstates Youth Offender Program

In the wake of the recent rash of gang-related youth crimes, the Santa Barbara School Board voted 3-1 this week in favor of tentatively restoring their Serious Habitual Offender Program. Abandoned in 2000, the inter-agency program puts the school district, teachers, police officers, and the district attorney’s office on the same page regarding students with histories of violent crime and frequent run-ins with the law.
