Luckily, in Santa Barbara, we can often put our money where our stomach and heart are and support fine causes while eating and drinking incredibly well. Such is the case with Bread & Roses, the community dinner and auction that supports the Fund for Santa Barbara. Now in its 14th year, this event helps the fund support projects working for social, economic, environmental, and political change. It also means you eat great food from purveyors including Via Maestra 42, Fresco Cafe, Louie’s, and Opal, and drink wines from vineyards like Alma Rosa, Stolpman, and, be still my pinot-loving heart, Sea Smoke.

Bread & Roses Dinner and Auction to benefit the Fund for Santa Barbara is on Sunday, September 16, from 4-8 p.m. at the Santa Barbara Woman’s Club. Advance tickets are $60 through September 13. Call 962-9164.
