Lightning Starts Fire

A lightning storm passed directly over the city of Santa Barbara on 8/29, dropping a small amount of moisture and transforming two palm trees into flaming torches. The electrical storm also caused homes to lose power for up to six hours, and sparked a wildfire-dubbed the Mine Fire-near McPherson Peak in North County, which was quickly contained after burning 30 acres.
