Future of Bethany Nuns Uncertain

A local businessman is trying to save the nuns from the Sisters of Bethany order from being kicked out of their Nopal Street digs. The Los Angeles Archdiocese will sell the property and use the proceeds to help cover its recent $660-million settlement with 508 individuals claiming they were sexually victimized by archdiocesan priests. The archdiocese will meet with the provincial superior of the Bethany community concerning the future welfare of the community’s members.
