Whale Killed By Ship in Channel

Another whale was found dead in the Santa Barbara Channel on 9/20, the third since 9/8. The whale was spotted by workers on Platform Gail. It was expected to beach in Ventura, but a storm kept the whale at sea until it could be towed to Pt. Mugu on 9/21. Researchers from the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History believe all three deaths were due to a combination of domoic acid poisoning and ship strikes. While the most recently deceased beast was being towed, a great white shark reportedly was drawn by blood and attempted to bite it.
