City Council Hashes Over Development Proposals

The Santa Barbara City Council is soliciting bids from land use consultants to craft a plan for outer State Street, to include setbacks, height restrictions, and parking limitations. Development in the area has been controversial, with neighborhood activists concerned about worsened traffic congestion if the proposed Whole Foods and Sandman Inn housing project materialize. Some want a moratorium on new development there until a final plan is approved.
