Every so often every chef-professional or duffer-gets in a scrape. That’s why you can’t have too good a spatula. One of the best is a double-edged “sword” from Chef’n called the Switchit, as the whole thing is silicone and usable on either its wider or thinner end, with artfully curved lines that might make a protractor jealous. Switchits come in different colors to please those who want to look hot but not bothered while cooking. Even better, they are centered with a steel core, so they’re steadier than even a wooden spatula, and obviously splinter-free. The silicone means they’re dishwasher safe and they clean up very well. You might want to give one to your mother as a subtle suggestion that she bake you more of those cookies you love.
