On 10/10, as the first winter storm hit Santa Barbara’s coast, rumors filtered back from local fishermen that a great white shark-estimated by witnesses to be about 12 feet long-was spotted near Summerland and Carpinteria. Thresher sharks were also seen near Faria County Beach in Ventura, feeding on some of the smelly remains of the blue whale buried in Ventura a few weeks ago.
