Despite the drizzle, about 60 people came to the downtown Rally for Peace at Vera Cruz Park on 10/27. Speakers appeared, including a veteran of the Iraq War who labeled the American presence there an “occupation” rather than a war. Event organizers and participants had the express goal of raising the political awareness of the local community and influencing local policy-makers to end the war.
