Archdiocese to Celebrate by Opposing Anti-Immigrant Legislation

Cardinal Roger Mahoney and all California bishops announced today that they will celebrate the Virgin of Guadalupe on 12/2 by denouncing the rise of anti-immigrant sentiment sweeping California and the nation. Citing the Mexican-born Virgin of Guadalupe-who saw visions of the Virgin Mary 476 years ago and is slated for beatification-the bishops propounded a message of “compassion, hope and unity,” in the face of tougher immigration restrictions.
