The former women’s honor farm on Hollister Avenue was converted into transitional housing for 18-to-24-year-old former foster kids. Dubbed La Morada, the house is designed to address the needs of foster children who have “aged out” of the system-many of whom become homeless. Funded by the state, as many as eight residents enjoy a rent-free room and a $200 monthly stipend for up to 24 months to help set them up for living independently.
