Atkins Charges Procedural Deficiencies in Juarez Prelim

Public Defender Karen Atkins charged that the preliminary hearing of Ricardo Juarez-the teen accused of murdering 15-year-old Luis Angel Linares in a gang-related stabbing on State Street last March-was procedurally defective and needs to be redone. Atkins objected to Judge Brian Hill listening to the taped confession of her client in private, refusing to allow her the chance to cross-examine based on that confession, and refusing her the opportunity to make closing arguments.
