City Wins Award for Pest Management

Santa Barbara’s pesticide-reduced integrated pest management maintenance program won an Innovator Award from the California Department of Pesticide Regulation. The city’s IMP program-the source of considerable political and fiscal wrangling at City Hall-is not entirely pesticide free, but uses far less than before the program’s inception. According to City Hall, “least harmful” materials are used in 98 percent of park spaces.
