Representative Lois Capps released a statement on 2/1 decrying Exxon Mobil’s record profit of $40.6 billion last year in the face of high gas prices for consumers. Capps stated that the Energy Independence and Security Act signed into law at the end of last year would play a major role in reducing U.S. dependence upon petroleum by 1.1 million gallons per day, saving families up to $1,000 every year.
