Caltrans announced on 4/3 that it had selected Sun Valley construction firm Security Paving for the planned renovations to Highway 101 between Milpas Street and Hot Springs Road. The firm’s bid for the project was just over $46 million. The four-stage, four-year work is scheduled to begin this summer with a widening of the 101 near the Milpas exit.

This week, work was completed on a $35 million safety project at the Santa Barbara Municipal Airport that shifted the main runway 800 feet to the west and installed a 1,000-foot safety area at the runway’s end. The airport is now in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
