The Montecito Planning Commission ended an 11-hour hearing on the matter of developer Rick Caruso’s plans for the Miramar resort without a conclusion for or against the project, but a decision to make a decision on 8/6 instead.

The good news is that the dropout rate for Santa Barbara’s high schools is not as high as the statewide average of 24 percent, but, at 9.4 percent, that figure is still a lot higher than most members of the school board thought.

Though the San Diego County medical examiner on 7/22 identified a body found floating in the San Luis Rey River as that of 19-year-old UCSB student Jaymie Rose Darrow, the examiner has not announced what caused her death.
