The Santa Barbara Foresters won its second National Baseball Congress (NBC) World Series championship last week, with UCSB’s Mike Ford pitching the team to a tidy 2-0 victory over the Seattle Studs in Wichita, Kansas. The Foresters are the first California team to win twice in the NBC’s 74 years of championships. Barbara Warren, an accomplished 65-year-old triathlete from San Diego, reportedly broke her neck when she crashed during the biking leg of the Santa Barbara Triathlon on 8/23 and is currently being cared for at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital’s intensive care unit. S.B. Triathlon organizers are looking into the incident and asking any witnesses to come forward. (/barbarawarren)
