Los Padres National Forest announced on 10/6 that aerial hydromulching on its Gap Fire-scorched areas has been completed. The spraying of a green slurry designed to prevent erosion began on 9/24 and utilized seven aircraft that collectively made 3,238 flights and delivered 3.5 million gallons of the teal-colored substance. On 10/7, aerial hydromulching began on about 1,000 acres of Goleta’s Gap Fire-singed hills and is scheduled to continue for a week. Additionally, Santa Barbara County announced on 10/8 that it and its eight public works departments-in Buellton, Carpinteria, Goleta, Guadalupe, Lompoc, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Solvang-have signed a mutual aid agreement to assist each other with any available resources in the event of natural disasters.
