Break Bread for Backpacks

Santa Barbara's Inn at the Spanish Garden Hosts Culinary Benefit for Kids

Thu Oct 23, 2008 | 12:00am

The Foodbank will feed you if you help it feed others. On Wednesday, October 29, from 5-8 p.m. at the Inn of the Spanish Garden, you can nosh and nip, but, most importantly, support the Backpacks for Kids program. The economic meltdown has only exacerbated the situation of hungry kids in the county, so the Foodbank has 700 delicious and nutritious backpacks targeted for underprivileged children who would otherwise not eat, or not eat well, when school is not in session. This fundraiser (a mere $40 a person) is an easy way to help. You’ll enjoy wines from the Santa Barbara Urban Wine Trial Wineries including Carr, Coquelicot, Jaffurs, Kalyra, Oreana, Kunin, and Westerly and food from Pure Joy Catering, Chef Josh Brown of bouchon and Seagrass, and Jessica Foster Confections. There’ll be music and a silent auction, too, as they of course want more support from you. For tickets or information, call 564-4700 or email info@spanishgardeninn.com.
