The Citizens Planning Association (CPA) announced that it will appeal the Montecito Planning Commission’s 10/9 approval of developer Rick Caruso’s Miramar Hotel project. A 10/17 statement from CPA alleged improper assessments of various facets of the project and claimed the supplemental environmental impact report did not satisfy California Environmental Quality Act standards. Caruso’s camp denied these claims. (/miramar1023)

According to this week’s Santa Barbara City Council agenda, an appeal is in the works to oppose El Encanto Hotel and Garden Villas’ ongoing renovation project, a multimillion dollar makeover that’s been underway since winter 2006 and is expected continue into 2009. The appeal is being brought by neighbors who are concerned about the growth of the project. The appeal will be reviewed by the council on 12/9 after a site visit the day before.
